Renovation of an old building’s apartment with a focus on natural, renewable and healthy materials

A two-storey apartment in an old building from 1914 is renovated with a focus on natural, renewable and healthy living materials. The main materials used are clay, hemp and wood.

The room layout on which the flat is based remained unchanged. Targeted interventions were made according to the principles of preserving, reusing, refurbishing and reinterpreting. Visible cuts and traces make the history of the house tangible. The cost framework also influenced the design ideas.
